As Indians, we should prove to the world that real knowledge has originated in our sacred land itself. The great Maharshi Pathanjali was the founder and exponent of yoga. The importance of yoga for one’s wellbeing has been appreciated and accepted all over the world. Therefore, June 21st will henceforth be celebrated as International Yoga Day every year. Our school also celebrated International Yoga Day. The Chief Guest of the day was Mr. Nasthi Kumar, Retired Professor of Government Victoria College, Palakkad, who is also a yoga trainer. He reiterated the importance of yoga for the wellbeing of the individual and society. This was followed by a yoga session for the students. The children performed Pranayama, various asanas and Surya Namaskara. The slokas chanted in between the asanas helped to create a spiritual atmosphere. The session ended with a prayer of thanksgiving to the Sun God followed by shanti mantras.
